The Position  

We are currently searching for a reliable and experienced Site Manager to join our team based at a prestigious iconic building located in Canberra. Your responsibilities involve ensuring the smooth day to day operation of the catering and retail operation within a large sized Retail and event facilities. Reporting into the Area Operations Manager. You’ll thrive on client and customer’s interaction, getting the best out of your team and exceeding our client’s expectations. You will be leading a large team of approx. 20 to 60 employees mainly working across a 7 day roster.

We are looking for a person who thrives on customer interaction and getting the best out of the team, whilst exceeding our client’s expectations. To be successful in this position will need to have previous operational management experience.

This is an exciting and varied position which requires an organised customer service super star, who can multi task well and is ready to take the next step up into a more senior role and build a lasting career with Compass Group.

Key Duties

  • Driving the team and site operations, encouragement of mentoring and development
  • Cost control and financial reporting
  • Establish and maintain a safe work environment; ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to ensure a sustainable safety culture
  • Driving the Safety Culture at site; initiating and implementing project ideas to drive commitment to safety
  • Ensuring Food Safety standards are met and adhered to
  • Liaising with above unit management and support services
  • Establishing and maintaining key stakeholder relationships
  • Working across function, boarding and retail, striving for improvement

The Person

  • Minimum 3 years operational management experience in a comparable environment
  • Passion to drive functions sales and management
  • Strong negotiation, problem solving and decision making skills whilst thinking on your feet
  • Ability to drive stakeholder engagement and deliver superior service levels
  • Commercially savvy and knows how to identify and deliver on growth opportunities
  • Positive, supportive, ambitious leader with experience in carrying out personal development plans, staff training sessions and appraisals
  • Develops effective relationships with individuals at all levels, from diverse backgrounds, cultures and locations
  • Is passionate about delivering the highest levels of customer satisfaction and engagement
  • Will have great attention to detail with an excellent ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Passion for great food and service
  • Be resilient, tenacious and willing to excel in this exciting but complex position
