The Role - Senior Admin Officer, Security Vetting


As our new Senior Admin Officer, Security Vetting, you’ll provide advice and assistance for all security related matters, as they relate to our work with Federal Government clients and their stated policies.  The role will ensure that Optus is compliant in all aspects regarding the delivery of security functions to our Federal government clients.


Duties include:


  • Provision of personnel, physical and information security advice;
  • Management of security administration relating to compliance and governance requirements;
  • Periodically review and update the Security documentation suite as the custodian including but not limited to:
  • The Security Risk Management Plan (SRMP); and
  • The System Security Plan (SSP).
  • Assist to maintain documenting service assurance security processes and procedures;
  • Proactive management of potential security breaches in its early stages and handle them before they evolve into actual security breaches;
  • Reporting on client contractual deliverables
  • Assisting in the coordination of audit activities including but not limited to, the annual security review (IRAP);
  • Change Management input and advice when required;


What does success look like?


Before you apply, please be aware that this role involves work for the Australian Government and will potentially have access to classified information/resources. As such, a security clearance is required and therefore it is a requirement that the successful candidate be an Australian Citizen.


You’ll ideally have demonstrable experience working in an IT outsourcing environment, with a Federal Government client, possibly in an Asset/Configuration Management role. It would also be advantageous to have the ITIL v3 Foundation Certificate and a working knowledge of current government policies and standards, including the Information Security Manual (ISM) and the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).


You’ll need strong relationship management, communication and task coordination skills in your armoury.  You’ll also have the ability to prioritise competing priorities, while working with the client, Optus internal, Optus subcontractors (vendors) and other Federal service providers.
