Due to an increased workload resulting from the high level of construction activity across Australia, particularly in Sydney, this company has an urgent need for a Senior Access Consultant to join their team.

They have over 80 staff nationally (including 6 Access Consultants), and 20 staff in their Sydney office (including 3 Access Consultants).

This well-established and large consultant firm has offices across Australia serving all of the high-profile Australian and International Architectural practices.

They provide design support on a wide range of project scales and types.

  • Access Consulting

  • Building Regulatory Consulting

You will be in a supportive environment of highly skilled and experienced Access Consultants and other consultants.

Their office is located in a lively Retail precinct close to buses and trains. Off-street, free, all-day parking is available nearby.

Your work day may include:

Reporting to the Managing Director or Associate, your role will cover:

  • Workload management, liaising with Access team leaders in other states, mentoring of Access consultants and the key contact between Access and Building Code consultants in the Sydney office

  • DDA assessment and reporting throughout all design stages and the approvals process

  • Advising clients in a access consulting role

  • Carrying out site inspections and building audits

  • Liaising with consultants on DDA issues

  • Attending client meetings

  • Attending industry forums/seminars to promote the company

How will I develop my career here?

Extensive training and mentoring in Team Management will be provided to candidates in need of this skill.

Skills & Experience you will need:

Ideally the candidate will be a highly experienced Access Consultant

  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-graduate practical experience as an Access Consultant – in NSW preferably, or elsewhere in AUSTRALIA

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with DDA, BCA and relevant Australian Standards

  • An understanding of the principles of Universal Design

  • The ability to work within a highly motivated team of consultants

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field

  • Membership or eligibility for membership with ACAA (Association of Consultants in Access Australia)

  • Ability to think strategically
