National Payroll Officer

The Company:

Our client is Australia`s largest flower wholesaler. An Australian owned business who supply the best-known retail brands in the country with cut flowers and potted plant product.

We are now recruiting for an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Payroll Officer in the National Finance team. This position is a temporary maternity relief position for 12 months commencing 18 January 2018. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a positive and dedicated team.

The Role:

As a National Payroll Officer you will be primarily responsible for doing payroll for atleast 500 people. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and processing weekly payroll in a timely and accurate manner
  • Oversee the processing of payroll nationally for a total headcount of 450 (300 weekly and 150 monthly payroll) working with an outsourced payroll (Aussiepay) and utilizing a time and attendance system (Mitrefinch)
  • Performing weekly payroll process (checking Mitrefinch, Aussiepay reports and sending bank files to finance for payroll payments)
  • Enter information into Aussiepay and Workbuddy system, create reports as directed
  • Performing Period ends on a weekly basis - as the period ends vary, you will need to ensure that you establish calendar reminders to ensure that this occurs
  • Collect leave and other payroll action forms and other payroll related paperwork
  • Liaison with the outsourced payroll company as required
  • Collate monthly superannuation reports and give to finance for payment
  • Ensure audit procedures are complied with and assist auditors with payroll records when required
  • Provide weekly /monthly reports and information as required by the business
  • Follow up any employee payroll issues, superannuation enquiries or other payroll matters as required

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will be required to possess the following skills and knowledge:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to undertake Payroll processing
  • Ability to solve payroll queries
  • Knowledge of industrial relation and workers compensation legislation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to interact in a diverse environment
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
  • Intermediate skills on Excel
  • Self-starter and able to work autonomously
  • Ability to work under pressure without a negative impact
  • Permanent residency is required

The required experience and qualifications are as follows:

  • Previous experience in Payroll processing weekly and monthly payroll for mix of full time, part time and casual employees
  • Previous experience using Mitrefinch is desirable but not essential
