Let's talk about the JOB:


Reporting to our GM Digital and Integration as part of a highly skilled team of technical practitioners, you will be responsible for leading the Digital Platforms Team.

You will build and lead a team of AWS cloud and DevOps engineers charged with building self-service digital platforms for the digital delivery teams. These are green field platforms such as our our new AWS landing zone and bleeding edge open source technologies including Kubernetes, Kops, Docker, Istio, Helm, Prometheus and lots of other cool tech. In addition, you will also leverage the latest automation and orchestration technologies including Jenkins, Ansible, Artifactory and Bitbucket.

You will take the lead in technical decision making and contribute to solution designs by researching new technologies and best practices as well as coaching and mentoring your team of engineers. 

You will also champion infrastructure as code, CI/CD and automation best practices and be passionate about creating self-service platforms that maximise the productivity of developers across ME. You'll also contribute to the wider software development community of practice, sharing tools, techniques and practices with other development teams.

First and foremost, you're a natural leader who values technical excellence and high-quality code whilst understanding the need for on time delivery to meet the needs of our business and customers. You’re serious about best practices and code quality and comfortable using cutting edge new tech.

You’re a highly experienced engineer with in depth experience of AWS, Kubernetes, Docker and be willing to get up to speed on a bunch of other cool tech including Istio. You have a deep understanding of infrastructure as code techniques and tooling, building continuous delivery pipelines and working in an agile, DevOps environment. 

As you’ll be managing a team of engineers, any people management experience will be beneficial. Most important will be your ability to create an awesome team culture where continuous improvement and technical excellence are the drivers behind high team engagement. 

An understanding of the banking or financial services sector will be helpful but not essential.
