Chief Operations Engineer Canberra (west) based - Manufacturing/precision engineering experience essential – salary up to $130k + package dependent on experience. Your new company
The company is an Australian Technology and manufacturer operating in the aerospace and defence markets. The company are keen to engage with diverse and capable people for management, technical and operational positions as they continue to grow.


Your new role
On behalf of our client we have been tasked with recruiting a process driven Chief Operations Engineer who is motivated by the following –



  • lean manufacturing processes

  • Best practice and continuous improvement principles to drive efficiency through labour, machine and equipment capacity whilst reducing waste and driving a reduction in operating costs.




You will be expected to identify, facilitate, lead and report on the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives. This will include projects and activities as well as lead, coach and train employees in lean enterprise, best practice and continuous improvement principles to achieve efficiency gains and process improvement.


You will need to show willingness to take a lead position in identifying continuous improvement projects and activities. It will also be important for you to engage directly with the team and to coach others through accountability and action to benefit the business. You will also be responsible for determining standard times and production standards supporting maximisation of manufacturing processes.


What you’ll need to succeed in the position
Due to the nature of the position, you will need to demonstrate an understanding of the following to deliver effectively in this position.



  • Demonstrated track record of introduction of innovative new processes and methods

  • Formal qualifications in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field

  • A minimum of five years' experience in a production support role in an engineering capacity

  • Detailed knowledge and experience in Lean manufacturing methodologies and design for manufacturing
