Seeking an experience Payroll Officer to fulfill a 12 Month Maternity Leave contract with the Public Sector.

Our client is a reputable provider of educational services in Townsville and is partnered closely with the Queensland State Government.


Your new role
As the Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for the full function and processing of payroll for 300+ employees. There will be a mixture of automated and manual (timesheet) processing. It is essential that you have experience and are appropriately skilled in the following:



  • Maintaining payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.

  • Updating payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers.

  • Preparing reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.

  • Determining payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.

  • Resolving payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.

  • Providing payroll information by answering questions and requests.

  • Maintaining payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.

  • Maintaining employee confidence and protecting payroll operations by keeping information confidential.

  • Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.






What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in obtaining this contract, you will have recent experience with



  • Full function payroll

  • Analysing information

  • Data entry skills

  • Attention to detail, confidentiality, thoroughness, general math skills

  • Proficient with financial software

  • Strong reporting skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication

  • Strong organisational skills
