The Company

Established for many years, this well respected heavy industry group is the leader in their field providing unique contracts and services to a range of infrastructure and mining groups. The organisation is currently going through major transformation and as a result, they are looking to complement their executive team with a commercially 'savvy Chief Financial Officer to help them move towards their ambitious goals.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the board and executive team, this business critical role requires a Chief Financial Officer to manage and improve the performance of the business.

As Chief Financial Officer, you will manage and advise on all commercial and financial elements of the business including advising the CEO and board on major contracts and projects including divestments and acquisitions. You will be responsible for streamlining and improving systems, processes and controls to meet the organisations change and transition objectives including IT systems review and change programmes.

A hands-on role, you will also be responsible for the performance of the Finance and IT teams including financial and management reporting including budgeting, forecasting and analysis. You will also be responsible for cash management and other treasury management services.

Your Experience

As Chief Financial Officer, you are aqualified accountant with extensive experience as a hands-on Chief Financial Officer or CFO Designate in heavy industry, resources/infrastructure or contracting business. Key attributes will include:

  • Proven ability to create financial/management and board reporting papers that highlight your ability to think proactively and commercially on critical business matters
  • Exceptional financial analysis and modelling knowledge including M&A and due diligence experience
  • Proven hands-on ability in running accounting and IT functions for a business going through continual change and transition
  • A lateral thinker who can investigate discrepancies, problem solve and deliver improvements
  • Excellent communication skills able to build relationships with financiers, customers and suppliers in internal stakeholders

Due to the unique nature of the business, it is essential that you have worked in a dynamic, evolving organisation. There is also a fundamental requirement to balance traditional, hands on reporting with the ability to add commercial value to the CEO, board and executive team.
