Speech Pathologist - Adult Allied Health Team. Permanent, full-time opportunity based in Darwin, NT.

Due to ongoing growth, they are now seeking a permanent, full-time Speech Pathologist to support their Adult Allied Health team.

Your new role
Reporting to the Team Leader – Adult Allied Health, you’ll plan, deliver and evaluate person-centred speech pathology services that deliver choice and control to participants. Amongst other duties, key responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing participants and developing and evaluating outcomes for evidence-based speech pathology interventions

  • Developing individualised person-centred therapy plans in partnership with the participant, their family, carers and/or guardians

  • Designing, selecting and developing augmentative and alternative communication systems, programs and resources for participants with communication needs based upon speech pathology assessment

  • Managing a varied caseload, supporting adults with complex communication needs and dysphagia

  • Providing quotes and invoices to the NDIA for speech pathology services in a timely manner and providing ongoing communication with external NDIS stakeholders

  • Working with other Allied Health Professionals in conducting supported independent living environmental assessments to support participants transitioning to new accommodation

  • Keeping accurate records of assessments and treatments in accordance with professional standard

What you'll need to succeed

As the successful candidate you’ll have tertiary qualifications in Speech Pathology and will hold or be eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia. You’ll have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working with adult clients, preferably with cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, intellectual disability, and autism. You’ll also have knowledge of formal and informal assessment tools, AAC prescription and implementation, and intervention options relevant for people with a disability, their carers and others who support them. Experience with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients will be highly regarded. Additionally, you’ll have, or will be willing to obtain, a Police Check, Ochre Card, and First Aid Certificate.
