Mental Health Clinical Support...

  • Part Time or Full Time Maximum Term Contract until June 2019

The Intake, Assessment and Triage Service is a new Neami service located in Cairns, Townsville and Mackay in partnership with the QPHN. As the Mental Health Clinical Support Coordinator, you will be part of a team of Mental Health Clinicians who provide clinical and risk assessments, care planning and facilitate access to appropriate clinical and community services. The Clinical Support Coordinator plays an active role in assessing and screening referrals using appropriate tools, policies and procedures. You will be responsible for managing and reviewing priority lists as and when required. You will also have a deep understanding of the types of mental health services available in the area as you will be providing information about mental health and available services in the region.

Core duties

  • Engage consumers and develop trusting and professional relationships
  • Maintain accurate individual consumer files and databases
  • Triage and assessment of mental health referrals
  • Participate in psychiatric assessment with consumers where appropriate
  • Foster and maintain relationships with external stakeholders to ensure good communication flow and clear referral pathways
  • Participate in community engagement activities as directed and promote the mental health and wellbeing of the community

Requirements

As a Mental Health Clinical Support Coordinator you will have a background and be registered in your field of Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing and/or Psychology, along with demonstrated experience. Our ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the issues faced by individuals in the region including those identifying from a CALD or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background.

Other essential skills and experiences we are looking for include:

  • The ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of local services particularly relevant to designated program area
  • The ability to form and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Be able to work with individuals from diverse and unique backgrounds
  • Be an honest and transparent individual

Mandatory requirements:

  • Relevant Clinical qualifications and registrations – Refer to PD
  • Working with Children checks (are required before commencement of work - Blue Card with Yellow Card Exemption or Blue & Yellow Cards (employee responsibility)
  • Australian Working Rights
  • Drivers licence
  • Police check (refer to PD) – disclosable outcomes considered
