Your Role:This specialist role works with People Leaders and Employees to address/resolve employee relations issues and manage business risk in line with Westpac Group policies, applicable industrial instruments and our regulatory obligations.
The Case Consultant manages a portfolio of employee relations cases (subject to the Consultant’s individual skills and experience) including:
  • Employee grievances and complaints;
  • Misconduct;
  • Formal performance management;
  • Injury, illness and absence (where employment is affected); and
  • Whistleblower complaints.
The Westpac case management team operates as a centralised team, providing independent services to all divisions and brands across the Westpac Group.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete end to end simple and complex case management and resolution.
  • Respond to matters within defined service standards, address and resolve matters competently, ethically and commercially, while demonstrating appropriate care for all parties involved.
  • Provide accurate and timely findings and advice based on Westpac Group policies and procedures and relevant legislation and industrial instruments.
  • Conduct grievance investigations into matters such as alleged discrimination, bullying and harassment and provide recommendations in order to resolve these matters in a timely manner and to mitigate risk to the Westpac Group.
  • Participate in the development of the HR Service Centre to ensure ideas are actively considered and implemented to meet the dynamic needs of our customers.
  • Manage and develop effective and cohesive relationships between key internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • Engage and influence key business partners to appropriate resolution.
  • Mitigate financial and reputational risk to Westpac.
  • Ensure responsible adherence to legal and compliance requirements and external regulations as applicable.
  • Support and drive a strategic, innovative and commercial customer centric culture to continue to improve the HRSC offering, to enable leaders to take a more pro-active role in managing individual employee relations issues, and provide employees with a greater understanding of case management matters.
  • 5 years+ experience in Generalist HR, Case Management, employee relations or related field
  • Experience in conducting workplace investigations
  • Understanding of legislative framework and working knowledge of case law
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Evidence of engaging and influencing key decision makers and stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and knowledge gathering skills
  • Ability to self-manage competing priorities and high volume reactive workload
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and show flexibility
  • Results Orientation – focuses attention on key objectives, seeking effective outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, to contribute and create effective teamwork across and beyond traditional organisational boundaries
