Laboratory Manager

The Role

The main focus of the position will be supervising the Baulkham Hills laboratory and laboratory staff including management of laboratory employees, assets, testing equipment and invoicing of customers. This role will also be required to provide endorsement of test reports.

Reporting to the Manager Technical Services, you will be required to:

  • Manage theTechnical Services team including allocating staff workloads and workflows to meet deadlines
  • Accept and carry out responsibilities in accordance with the relevant Boral OHS system
  • Manage expenditure to achieve operational and cost budgets
  • Supervise the Allocation of testing resources to ensure maximum utilisation
  • Checking and issuing of accredited test certificates and statistical results with emphasis on accuracy and expediency
  • Contribute and manage the Lean Action Plan and actively participate in Continuous Improvement Activities
  • Manage and control the receipting of testing specimens
  • Maintain the invoicing of testing to customers daily
  • Adopt effective customer service work practices by communicating with Sales and Operations to enhance customer satisfaction with the Laboratories level of service
  • Ensure all Sections comply with the requirements of our NATA and Quality Accreditation

About You:

  • Relevant industry experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in science or another relevant discipline
  • Knowledge of Australian and Industry standards
  • NATA signatory
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Communication and written skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines
  • Sound technical knowledge of construction products
  • Proficient Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with all people
  • Personal drive and results focussed
