Engineering Project Manager
The Government will invest around 25 percent of Defence capital expenditure to 2025-26 in our maritime capabilities in the most comprehensive regeneration of our Navy since the Second World War. Our maritime forces will become more potent out to the 2030s through more capable submarines, ships and aircraft and better integration of combat and supporting systems across Defence. This will enable our forces to protect our maritime borders and resources, secure our immediate northern approaches and proximate sea lines of communication, and project force in the maritime environment.
Maritime Systems Division has an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to fill the Hydrographic Systems Program Office (HSPO) position of Engineering Project Manager, Cairns.
HSPO is responsible for acquisition and through-life support of primarily maritime equipment used by the Royal Australian Navy and Australian Army, for the conduct of Hydrographic and various diverse marine operations. HSPO strives to effectively deliver materiel acquisition and sustainment of Leeuwin Class Hydrographic Ships and on-board Survey Motor Boats, Paluma Class Survey Motor Launches, Laser Airborne Depth Sounder (LADS) aircraft/system and Army`s fleet of marine vessels and related equipment.
This position is primarily responsible for ensuring that HSPO`s engineering program and system of engineering management, governance and technical risk management are carried out in accordance with the Defence Seaworthiness Management System.
The successful candidate is required to manage and lead change, look for efficiencies in engineering and business practices, govern the delivery of engineering changes through the In-Service Support Contractor and be responsible for management and oversight of engineering decisions, risk management processes and compliance with the Defence Seaworthiness Management System.
The successful candidate will also be entitled to additional remote locality entitlements such as: additional leave, district allowance, and assisted leave airfares allowance.
