Our Client

Our client is a community run and owned childcare and early learning centre. They have been open since the 1980's and are the only centre on King Island, which consists of 1500 people. They are licensed for 29 placements and thanks to a Federal Government grant, they have renovated the entire centre including brand new soft play and equipment. This centre quite literally helps to develop and educate the entire islands children.

King Island is a beautiful location, surrounded by incredible beaches with a strong Rock Lobster and Dairy industry. The island is now developing a number of exclusive golfing retreats as well.

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an Assistant Manager to join their Child Care & Early Learning Centre on King Island, Tasmania with the potential to earn a competitive salary based on the award wage.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the management of the centre and run some classes. Being able to complete all day to day management responsibilities of the centre.

Reporting directly to the Centres Manager some of your responsibilities include:

  • Meet the needs of children, facilitate active learning and manage behaviour
  • Ensure positive communication, interactions and experiences
  • Provide support for staff as needed and organise staff meetings and parent/teacher conferences
  • Be innovative within the centre programme and be knowledgeable on current legislation
  • Manage Finances and Government Reporting

To be successful in this role you would ideally have at least one of the following:

  • Teaching Degree
  • Cert III in Early Childhood Education and Care
  • > 3 Year Diploma Qualified

If you don't hold any of the above, then you must have extensive teaching experience combined with Management experience. You must have excellent Communication Skills and Working with Children Check, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Training and Current First aid Qualification.
