Working with a Federal Government agency with its National Headquarters in Geelong, we are currently looking to appoint a Director - Continuous Improvement for an initial 2 year fixed term.

Your new role
In this role, you will provide leadership and expertise in Continuous Improvement to multiple business areas. You will report on process compliance and effectiveness from a customer (participant and provider) experience perspective, rather than simply cost, incorporating the application of Lean Six Sigma methodology to review existing process, identify pain points and wastage to enable redesign and remediation of process.

You will also lead a range of business establishment tasks, including recruitment, on-boarding and capability building of a team, mapping existing processes, recommending improvements and assisting the Agency to design processes for improvements made to the participant and provider pathways and allow for pilot programs and national rollouts.

Other deliverables include:

  • Review existing process, establish gaps and wastage.

  • Re-engineer process design to increase efficiency and better outcomes for participants, providers and internal staff.

  • Oversee the design, development and maintenance of internal operating processes and systems in accordance with organisational strategy.

  • Development and delivery of continuous improvement and change management initiatives to support service improvement and performance.

  • Lead process re-engineering to ensure scalability for current and future volumes.

  • Ensure processes for the participant and provider pathways are designed effectively with human-centred user experience considered and risk management and compliance controls in place.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in these roles, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience in Business Analysis, Process Design, Process Improvement and Continuous Improvement

  • Strong knowledge of contemporary tools and methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma (DMAIC), 5S, Kanban, 5 Whys and Kaizen

  • Demonstrated capacity to lead and manage a complex process mapping function in a nationally dispersed organisation

  • Proven leadership experience in guiding, mentoring, developing and empowering staff

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence to deliver significant outcomes for a wide range internal and external stakeholders

  • Strong skills with MS Visio

  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification will be advantageous, as will previous experience in a similar role within the public sector.
