Description


Reporting to the Online Content Transformation Lead, this role will write and re-purpose a range of content types for the new website and online services, including content driven customer guides, informational and instructional content, content to support video/animations, eForms and new features that support the delivery of digital services to customers.


Profile


Reporting to the Online Content Transformation Lead, this role will write and re-purpose a range of content types for the new website and online services, including content driven customer guides, informational and instructional content, content to support video/animations, eForms and new features that support the delivery of digital services to customers.


Main Responsibilities:


Manage the sourcing and development or re-purposing of content relating to Council’s website including:


- Portfolios such as community development, planning and building, health and well-being services, environment arts and libraries;
- Council venues and their facilities;
- Eforms,
- Delivery of map-based information



  • Support the development of instructional text and scripts for video and/or animations to guide customers through complex processes.

  • Gather content requirements from internal and external stakeholders on digital services.

  • Repurpose print and PDF material to be suitable for digital consumption.

  • Track and manage feedback and approvals from subject matter experts to make sure content is accurate and meets customer needs.

  • Review content from other writers against usability, accessibility, and SEO standards and for consistency with internal principles.


Support the Content Transformation Lead in:


- The management of external Content Services contractors to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of new and repurposed content
- Ensuring the usability and effectiveness of content through customer research and testing






Job Offer


The Ideal Applicant:



  • Tertiary qualification in communications, journalism or professional writing/editing or a related discipline

  • Extensive knowledge and demonstrated skill in digital copy writing and editing, including working with and simplifying complex processes in easy to read, step-by-step information for external customers

  • Be able to work in a fast paced environment both autonomously and within a cohesive team environment

  • Have proven ability to write and re-purpose a range of content types, and have the knowledge and understanding of usability, accessibility standards and content management systems as they apply to mobile and web-based digital content

  • Prior experience in the production of digital content development for government agencies is also desirable

  • Demonstrate experience in building and sustaining internal partnerships to support shared understanding of goals and ensure stakeholder buy-in to the changes.

  • Equally, expertise in the design and implementation of user research activities with diverse user groups is highly desirable
