Optus Business is seeking a customer facing Contract Manager to act as a trusted advisor to support our Sales and Client Delivery teams to manage the contractual and commercial performance of Optus Business’ large customer contracts.  If you’re a go-getter, who loves a challenge and enjoys a fast paced environment we want to hear from you.


As a Contract Manager you will provide proactive support for the development, maintenance and growth of complex customer contracts and associated supplier contracts.  You will work with the account team and the customer to help manage risk and mitigation strategies, oversee Optus and the customer's compliance to contracted commitments, assist in sales enablement for new opportunities, and grow customer satisfaction.


Essentially, you will be responsible for:

  • End to end ownership (including drafting, review and sign-off) of statements of works, Official Orders and amendments to customer contracts;
  • Providing support in negotiation of customer contract terms including head terms and schedules;
  • Negotiating, reviewing and approving associated subcontractor agreements;
  • Working with stakeholders and subcontractors to ensure deliverables and  outcomes required under the customer contract and subcontracts are met;
  • Maintaining oversight of ongoing compliance and governance of the customer contract;
  • Providing an escalation point to assist in resolving commercial, contractual and compliance matters;
  • Ensuring adherence to Optus’ governance and approval policies;
  • Actively participating in account and bid teams to support, collaborate and act as a trusted advisor; and
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders (e.g. Legal, Commercial, Risk) to ensure appropriate due diligence is applied to the construction and execution of contracts on behalf of Optus Business.


What makes you perfect for this role?

  • You are an experienced customer facing Contract Manager with sound business judgement skills;
  • You are proficient at drafting, reviewing and negotiating contract schedules, statements of work, Official Orders, variations and change requests;
  • You have handled large and complex customer contracts – ideally with Federal Government;
  • You have great customer facing relationship skills – this is a customer facing role!
  • You understand the nuances in negotiation to help a sales team grow an account over the contract term, whilst balancing risk and governance;
  • You have good ICT/Telco knowledge – prior roles in an outsourcer,  systems integrator or customer facing business division in a telco;
  • You have relevant BASELINE security clearance (ideally NV1);
  • You have a basic understanding of Contract Law – either through experience or certification; and
  • You are a member of the International Association for Contract and Commercial Management (IACCM) with professional certification (beneficial but not essential).
