Assistant Director - Clinical

For 35 years, the Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service (VVCS) has provided free and confidential counselling and support for war and service-related mental health and wellbeing conditions. VVCS prides itself in the delivery high quality mental health services that are coordinated, integrated, evidence-based and responsive to the needs of veterans and their families.

VVCS is currently seeking a passionate and motivated psychologist or social worker to join our team of dedicated mental health care professionals in the position of Assistant Director Clinical. This is a rare and exciting permanent EL1 position, conveniently located in the Canberra CBD.

To be considered for this position, applicants must hold mandatory registration as a psychologist, or be an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

The Assistant Director Clinical is responsible for:

  • Providing high level clinical advice to support quality client outcomes.
  • Representing VVCS at a senior level at appropriate fora.
  • Contributing to and guiding the development of clinical program policy advice and procedures.
  • Providing training and education to VVCS staff about Continuous Quality Improvement and research/outcomes measurement.
  • Proactive management of the clinical accreditation processes for VVCS staff.
  • Deputise for the Director Clinical Services (DCS) as required and undertake duties as negotiated with the DCS, such as staff recruitment, induction and orientation and development.

The successful candidate will have be dedicated to the delivery of exceptional clinical mental health and wellbeing services to our veterans, currently and former serving members of the ADF and their families.
