Your new company

Your new role
The role will require you to proactively engage with a diverse range of internal stakeholders in assisting them with various HR related queries. Your responsibilities will predominantly involve
managing all HR matters including pay, recruitment, WHS, conditions of service and compensation for around 200 staff within the organization.

As an experienced HR Generalist, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Actioning pay related matters including superannuation, cessations and commencements, and associated reporting.

  • Providing accurate constructive advice to staff and managers on all aspects of the Enterprise Agreement, relevant legislation and policy.

  • Managing recruitment including assisting with the drafting of position descriptions and advertisements, liaison with the advertising agency and advising recruitment panels.

  • Assisting with WHS compliance including registering and reporting on incidents and providing secretariat assistance to the Health and Safety Committee.

  • Preparing correspondence and reports on a range of employment related matters.

  • Managing on-boarding of staff including arranging police checks, monitoring probation requirements, confirming identity.

  • Preparing and maintaining files and electronic data.

  • Other duties as required.

What you'll need to succeed
In order for you to be considered for this permanent role, you will be required to demonstrate your work experience in the public sector. In particular, we are seeking candidates with previous experience in the following:

  • Australian public sector payroll and conditions administration

  • Competent understanding of taxation and superannuation requirements and its implications on HR matters

  • Strong knowledge of WHS obligations

  • Cultural awareness and knowledge of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with them

Skills and Attributes Required

  • Demonstrated ability to organise, prioritise, maintain work quality under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Demonstrated commitment, resilience, attention to detail, reliability, independence, and the capacity to work effectively in a small team

  • Well-developed verbal and written communications skills

  • Able to maintain productive working relationships at all levels of the organisation
