An exceptional opportunity to work within the Watto Purrunna Aboriginal Health Service, you will enjoy the advantages of a dynamic and supportive environment whilst working as an Aboriginal Primary Health and Community Care Officer. Within this challenging and multi-faceted role, you will promote the health and wellbeing of the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities by providing responsive health care services, programs and activities which are based on prevention/early identification, social justice. This will include building Aboriginal knowledge of the physical and social determinants of health in the Aboriginal Communities. Primarily, your duties will involve case management, where you will be responsible for the identification of social and emotional health needs as well as supporting clients to access appropriate services. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the engagement of individuals, communities and groups, in strategies that will empower Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander families with the aim to prevent ill health.
Able to advocate for families who are at risk, negotiate and resolve conflict, you will possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to network with relevant government and non government agencies. Essential to your success in this role is a Certificate III in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Community) for ASO3 and Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Community) for ASO4.
With recent experience in Aboriginal identity/culture and working with Aboriginal people, children, families and communities, you will have the demonstrated ability to work in a culturally sensitive and accountable manner. Sound knowledge of Aboriginal culture and complex needs around the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people will hold you in good stead for this role.
