The Financial Planning and Resourcing Directorate is looking to recruit a highly motivated and committed Senior Resourcing Officer to join their team in the School Funding branch.

The Senior Resourcing Officer assists in the evaluation, development, implementation and review of strategies, policies, and procedures and participates in the ongoing identification of funding requirements.

You will analyse financial data and information and undertake modelling to assist in determining resource allocations for schools. You will research, evaluate and prepare reports on emerging trends and develop and implement continuous improvement processes for providing resources to schools.

The School Funding Branch is part of the Financial Planning and Resourcing Directorate. The Branch is responsible for the management of the Student Centred Funding Model (SCFM), the transfer of funding to schools, meeting Treasurer`s Instructions in the processes adopted and ensuring that allowances provided meet requirements.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for permanent appointments to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  1. Well-developed skills and considerable experience in the provision of financial strategic advice to a broad range of stakeholders, including senior and executive level management.
  2. Well-developed skills and considerable experience in financial modelling and resource management at a strategic and operational level with the ability to deliver quality and timely budgets and related financial management services.
  3. Well-developed knowledge and considerable experience in contemporary financial management, including budget preparation, review and reporting in a large/complex organisation.
  4. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to undertake consultation, collaboration and negotiation and to build effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders on financial issues.
  5. Well-developed written communication skills including experience in contributing to reports, briefing papers and responses to Senior Executive and/or Ministerial/Parliamentary requests.
  6. Well-developed skills and experience in achieving outcomes and delivering quality products and services consistent with customer needs and defined quality expectations, including timeliness.
  7. Well-developed analytical and conceptual skills to provide innovative solutions to complex problems.

Employees will be required to:

  • hold a relevant tertiary qualification in business, commerce, finance or related field or equivalent substantial experience.
  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy; and
  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment


Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department`s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
  • complete the Department`s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
