Senior Dental Officer
You will provide general and emergency dental care according to public dental health principles to hospital patients requiring oral care, including medically compromised patients. Contributing to the leadership and management of the Dental Unit, you will provide instruction to less experienced staff and students, including the formulation of treatment plans which are consistent with the principles of public dental health. As part of your role, you will also contribute to the development of clinical protocols and participate in clinical studies and research activities. The Southern Adelaide Local Health Network provides care for around 341,000 people living in the southern metropolitan area of Adelaide, as well as providing a number of state-wide services and services to those in regional areas. More than 7,000 skilled staff provide high quality patient care, education, research and health promoting services. The Dental Service sits within the Division of Surgery and Peri-operative Medicine and provides a broad range of services, working collaboratively with a vast range of surgical and medical specialities.
You will have registration as a Dentist or Dental Specialist with the Dental Board of Australia, and have proven clinical experience as a general dentist. This will include experience in the dental care of medically or socially compromised patients. Understanding the principles of public dental health and their application, you will work well as part of a clinical team within a challenging and demanding clinical environment. Along with your ability to communicate effectively with staff of health service providers, you will bring the ability to develop a rapport with special needs patients.
