Project Manager - Rail

The Company

This Project Management role will deliver critical improvements to the Hunter Valley rail network of this major operator which forms a vital part of the transport supply chain and the economic development of Australia.

The Role

Your responsibilities, as part of a team of roughy 15 people in the major projects team, will include:
  • Contribute to the implementation of the organisations Hunter Valley strategy on projects ranging in size from $1M to $400M
  • Ensure project objectives, scope, costs, schedule, safety, environmental impact, reliability and maintainability are delivered from strategy through to handover.
  • Report to the Manager Major Projects on the physical and financial progress and issues related to the projects
  • Facilitate all internal stakeholder, external stakeholder and interface approvals, which may include approval from the State Planning Minister, External Train Operators, RMS, Council, Adjoining Landowners and Local Residents.
  • Prepare all documents including risk assessments to allow for approval of change to railway operations 
  • Lead a team of Engineers, Supervisors, Technicians, Administrators, Consultants, and Contractors to successfully manage the coordination of multiple work teams to achieve objectives for all aspects of the project.
  • Liaise with the project contractors to minimise the impact of the project work on regular operations and ensure that the work is completed in accordance with company quality and safety procedures.
The requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Construction management, Engineering or equivalent
  • 5-10 years experience in the rail industry as a project manager or project engineer
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The ability to influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
