The position of Senior Occupational Therapist, Level 4 is responsible for providing expert clinical leadership to Occupational Therapists within the multi-disciplinary team.
This position provides advanced clinical support, leadership and consultation in relation to Occupational Therapy services, within the District`s Mental Health Inpatient services.
The role will provide clinical supervision, training and guidance for Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) Mental Health Occupational Therapy inpatient staff, and Occupational Therapy Students, in accordance with the District`s Occupational Therapy Department`s established evidence based standards of practice, and CCLHD policies and procedures.
This position plays a major clinical role in the delivery of Occupational Therapy services, to patient`s undergoing inpatient treatment within the CCLHD Mental Health Services. The position is responsible for ensuring a a high standard of Occupational Therapy service to mental health inpatients within the District, with an evidence based focus,and strategies to improve and monitor the effectiveness of the service.

  • Recognised Degree in Occupational Therapy (OT) with AHPRA registration and membership with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, with a minimum of at least 3 years clinical inpatient experience in the mental health field.,
  • Demonstrated extensive clinical experience as an OT in an adult inpatient mental health setting, including in the development of OT inpatient programs and services, demonstrating an understanding of the Mental Health Act and Guardianship legislation.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience, in inpatient psychosocial group facilitation, with effective written and verbal communication, and skill in negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment, including experience in OT staff and student professional supervision.
  • Demonstrated competence, in providing timely and accurate advice, on OT clinical service delivery development, practice, and redesign.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting and coordinating inpatient quality improvement activities
  • Current NSW class C drivers licence
  • Demonstrated understanding of how the District is Caring for the Coast and how this role would contribute.
