The Director of Operations, State Wide Services is accountable to the Chief Executive Officer for providing strategic leadership and direction and is responsible for the operational management and governance of the service area of responsibility to ensure that it meets agreed performance, quality and clinical standards in the delivery of high quality Ambulance Services. The post holder will influence SAAS strategic and operational objectives, business plans and programs and will collaborate with stakeholders to develop strategic alliances with other health, emergency service and community stakeholders.

The Director of Operations, State Wide Services will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of leadership, development and continuous improvement of: Emergency Operations Centre; Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response including major events planning; Rescue, Retrieval and Aviation; Operations systems (EOC infrastructure and CAD support); State Duty Managers.

The Director of Operations, State Wide Services will participate as an integral member of the Executive Management Team, contributing to the leadership, vision and strategic direction setting for SA Ambulance Service. The position will significantly influence the transformation and reform agenda as part of the service delivery reform process.

The Director of Operations, State Wide Services will be required to develop and maintain close links between health services and emergency service organisations to meet SAAS obligations of emergency preparedness, resilience and response consistent with the State Emergency Management arrangements.
