The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a PEL 2 Director to provide executive services to the Office of the Chief Information Officer, Information Services Division.
DPS supports the functioning of Australia`s Parliament and the work of parliamentarians through professional services, advice and facilities. We are the proud custodians of Australian Parliament House - the working symbol of Australian democracy and an iconic destination for citizens and international visitors. It is a place where more than 3,500 people work on sitting days, and which nearly a million people visit each year.
The Information Services Division manages the infrastructure and delivery of ICT services to registered users in APH, Federal Electorate Offices (EOs) and Commonwealth Parliament Offices (CPOs). The division also provides Hansard and audio-visual services, including recording, broadcasting and archiving the audio-visual record of Parliament and parliamentary committee proceedings and the production of the written record (Hansard). This division`s ICT functions includes service design, implementation and support in the form of a central help desk, training, the provision of software and hardware, and management of the department`s relationships with external ICT providers.
As the PEL 2 Director, you will possess strong leadership, financial, governance, communication and interpersonal skills, with the emphasis of providing strategic and operational advice and services to the Senior Executive Service Band 2 (First Assistant Secretary) and oversee a professional work unit performing financial, procurement and contract services to the Division. You will be a high performing individual with a track record of success in a similar fast-paced operating environment. You will have proven ability to lead people, work collaboratively to establish successful working relationships with a range of executive stakeholders and be flexible at balancing conflicting priorities and have a customer-focused approach. You will provide services, support, guidance and take a lead role leading a small team responsible for ISD finances, contracts and procurement and mentoring the PSL 5 Executive Assistant within the division.
Your ability to work with the utmost discretion and confidentiality is essential in this position.
The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
