Your new role

The Development Manager leads the daily management of an assigned program of high value and complex property development projects and or issues; sensitive internal and external stakeholder relations in relation to these projects or matters; and the timely provision of advice and response in relation to property development related matters as they arise; including unsolicited interest in the TAFE NSW land from third parties across the TAFE NSW portfolio, whilst meeting strategic Assets Management Planning objectives.

Key accountabilities include, but not limed to:

  • Contribute to the development of a new service delivery model for development projects and implement new approaches within an assigned projects portfolio.
  • Directly manage a program of one or more development projects as directed by the Head of Development, including engagement of external consultancies and specialist advisors to deliver on key project stages including: scoping, feasibility assessment, business case preparation, financial/economic appraisal, partnering arrangements, legal agreements, securing of statutory, interagency and organisational approvals and the delivery on ground of assets by others if required.
  • Ensure effective application of agreed governance and quality assurance processes including strategies and tools to effectively address compliance, probity and delivery standards in the context of a highly complex contractual and regulatory environment.
  • Manage contracts and procurement of consultants and contractors ensuring performance meets agreed outcomes, including compliance, governance processes, quality, time and cost.
  • Prepare options analysis and feasibility assessments including financial/economic appraisals to advise on the merits of development opportunities and proposals.
  • Prepare business cases, briefs, reports and other documents to support a range of stakeholder requirements, approvals and reporting processes ensuring accuracy and integrity of content and timely delivery.
  • Support negotiations and approval of agreements and contracts facilitating a range of collaborative and commercial arrangements including arrangements with the non-government sector, consultancies, various service providers and other agencies of Government.

What you`ll need to succeed

Essential requirements for the role are:

  • At least 5-7 years` combined experience in development management roles in the private and public sectors and tertiary qualifications in Property Development, Land Economics, Town Planning or similar.
  • Demonstrable strategic and tactical thinking, planning and management skills, and commercial acumen as applied to property development projects and programs.
  • Proven ability to act in a timely manner to meet unplanned deadlines and rapid reprioritisation of activities.
  • Ability to address and meet focus capabilities as stated in the Position Description.
