The Mayor and Council of the Townsville City Council are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Executive to provide leadership to the organisation and facilitate the Council`s vision for a high performing, customer-focussed organisation.

Combined with the largest ADF presence in Australia, and the second largest Hospital in Queensland, It is ideally located to play a leading role in developing new research and business solutions to the challenges of development and sustainable living in the tropics.
The Council serves a community of approximately 200,000. Council employs approximately 1,700 staff and has an annual budget of $650M. Currently, council has achieved an operating surplus with recurring operating revenue exceeding recurring operating expenses. The Townsville City Council is committed to achieving an operating surplus.
The key opportunities and challenges for this position will be:
Development of a cohesive, customer-centric approach to service within the organisation
Experience and success as the CEO of a complex, large scale organisation is essential. Executive leadership experience within a large local government organisation or similar business is essential.
The Mayor and Council are keen to appoint a new CEO to lead the organisation and pursue their agenda of progress, economic development and high standards of customer service.
