Company Overview
The Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI) is the national not-for-profit representative body in Australia for over 1,500 professionals in the fields of Land, Engineering and Mining Surveying, Hydrography, GIS, Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry, Cartography, and emerging location technologies. The SSSI exists to promote the surveying and spatial sciences professions and to establish, monitor and improve practice and ethical standards, as well as contribute to further development and research.

Role Overview
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer is accountable for developing and achieving the SSSI strategic plan, strengthening the profile of SSSI and providing consistent high-level advice regarding operations, policies and planning. Additionally, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for meeting the requirements and needs of a large network of member and volunteer based national committees.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Confident and dynamic leader with proven experience in change and financial management;
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills;
  • Strong time management, coordination and strategic planning ability;
  • Effective stakeholder relationship experience;
  • Proven experience with policy development and policy analysis.

The successful candidate will strongly lead and represent the aspirations of surveying and spatial sciences professionals through proven experience with member associations and growth. Tertiary qualifications are desired but not mandatory.
